As global aid falters under the weight of a growing refugee crisis, Julien navigates a life of prolonged displacement and reclaims his sense of purpose through the game of chess, inspiring a movement of young leaders in Africa's oldest refugee camp.

In a truly fantastic collaboration with Eric M. Mwangi, Crouch Bertrand, Carly Seidewand and local crew from Nakivale Refugee Settlement, we created RAISED as a exploration of how people cope with lifelong displacement in the face of a growing aid gap. What we found was a deeply human story of the pursuit of purpose, the reclamation of dreams, and creative initiatives of hope that rise from within displaced communities.
